What is affiliate marketing
The idea behind affiliate marketing is that you make money by promoting other people’s products, typically through an affiliate network, and earn a commission if people buy those products thanks to your marketing efforts.
Affiliate marketing is a proven process that allows you to pursue your passion while making money at the same time. And, you can even earn money while you sleep. Pretty sweet! It’s how the vast majority of people get started making money online.

How affiliate marketing works
1: Choose an interest
What are you interested in? We all have a hobby or passion that gets us excited and revved up when we think about it. There are literally millions of different ideas that you could tap into to build a successful online business.
Let’s say for example that I’m interested in “coffee roasting”. This could be the start of my idea for my website and how I’ll build my online business. There are 2.8 billion people online searching for billions of things so you can be successful with whatever topic you choose.
The idea is to have fun. When you choose a passion, you’re much more likely to achieve success.
2. Build a website
Building your very own website is a piece of cake within Wealthy Affiliate. The process takes less than 30 seconds for you to have a beautiful, revenue-ready website that will be the foundation for your online business.
In just a matter of seconds, you’ll have your own website up and running and can choose the design that appeals to you. Then, you’ll be able to start to write about, review and discuss everything related to your topic.
3. Attract visitors
Your initial goal, before you try to make money, is to attract visitors to your website. Without visitors, you will not have a business so this is a critical step.
Within the first few lessons in Wealthy Affiliate’s online certification course, you’ll learn about the techniques to drive a ton of relevant customers to your website through rankings in Google, Bing and the other search engines.
4. Earn revenue
Once you have an audience, you’ll be able to start promoting products and services through programs called ‘affiliate programs’ which are free to join. You’ll be able to promote just about anything you can think of without having to own or create the product yourself.
You’ll send the traffic to the company’s website and they pay you a commission (up to 75% in some cases) if your visitor’s purchase the product.
